Dear Band Parents

Dear band parents,

We have found an increasing number of school-owned instruments in lockers with the cases left open. Per the Band Handbook, we will be assessing a $25.00 fine to students each time this occurs. Please be aware of this policy and inform/remind your student(s) that cases must be closed when school-owned instruments are stored in our open-air lockers. We highly recommend the same for student-owned instruments. An instrument left in a locker with the case open offers an opportunity for vandalism and destruction of school property. Also, each student must have his/her own combination lock; please check with your student(s) to make sure they have one for their band locker. Finally, there is to be no food or drink stored in the lockers at any time.

Congratulations to the NCHS Wind Ensemble! This last weekend the Wind Ensemble competed in the State of Illinois Invitational Concert Band Contest at Illinois State University and won 2nd place in Class 5A competition.

2008 STATE OF ILLNOIS INVITATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT BAND CONTEST

Our Call Time is 3:45pm in CVA 147.

We will warm up at 4:15pm in the Kemp Recital Hall.

Walk over to CPA at 4:35

We are scheduled for a 4:45pm performance in the Center for Performing Arts on April 26th.

Dress Requirements: Concert Black

Please remember to take everything you need (instrument, Music, mutes, etc.) home from school on Friday. The school WILL NOT be open on Saturday, so take it home Friday.

PARKING: Buses are asked to park in Lot G04 – right next to McDonald’s (there will be parking assistants to guide you). The two lots closest to the bus parking area are also accessible to free public parking. It is recommended that families of the students park in these lots to eliminate any problems with University Parking Services. Parking meters are also available around the CPA, however, some parking areas require permits, so please inform any parents of this situation.

Saturday Band Event

Band Director instructions for Saturday:
Call time is at 11:45 a.m. students should dress casual (orange and black is a good idea). Bring instrument and music and wire music stand if you have one. Students should unload and enter at the loading dock located on the corner of Front and Lee streets.

Parents attending the game will need to buy a ticket at the box office. I am told that there should be free parking available but i don't know that for a fact. (See map below.)

Spaghetti Supper 2007

The annual Unit Five Music Parents Association Spaghetti Supper will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 in the NCHS cafeteria.

Your band member has been given tickets for this event. The money for these tickets (or the tickets themselves) must be turned in to their band director by November 4th.

Dinner includes: Avanti's Spaghetti, Bread, Salad, Drink & Dessert
